Dry mouth isn’t anything more than a dry mouth, right? Wrong! Dry mouth is a serious condition that can weaken your capacity to chew food, speak correctly and breathe correctly, so please take it very seriously. Learn a tiny bit more about the state by continuing.
The word xerostomia comes from the Greek words xeros (meaning “dry”) and stoma (meaning “mouth”). While it’s unclear as to when xerostomia was understood or classified, the condition has doubtless been the cause of lots of dental illnesses and discoveries throughout history. Interestingly enough, xerostomia can be utilized as a kind of lie detector because the salivary glands generate less spit when under emotional trauma.
Foiling dry mouth may not always be possible, but there are a few things you can do to lessen your risk of forming the condition. To avoid xerostomia, you should prevent sugary drinks and alcohol; these chemicals can dry out your mouth and cause xerostomia, so be alert of them. Avoid excessively sugary foods, try to chew sugar-free gum and brush your chompers at least twice per day.
