Advanced Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF)
Advanced PRF has a large number of applications in periodontal and oral surgical procedures, including helping to repair bone and fistula, aid in extraction site preservation and dry socket prevention, and facilitate sinus lifts, gum grafts, and more.
The use of platelet-rich fibrin protects bony surgical sites from infection, accelerates the healing process and helps decrease pain after a procedure. Since the patient’s own blood is used, PRF treatment is 100% natural. It also requires the use of no additives or preservatives.
What Does PRF Therapy Involve?
Prior to surgery, the patient will have a small quantity of blood drawn. It is placed in a centrifuge so it can be separated into red blood cells, plasma, and white blood cells and platelets. The white blood cells are used to create PRF. This substance is then applied to surgical sites in order to promote healing and greater treatment success.
